Self-Reflection Points
Always let a responsible person know where you are going to be.
Do your research before entering any environment. Remember you have a purpose in life. All places are not for all people.
If you are not sure of the environment you may want to have an exit plan in place before you go. You don't want to find yourself stuck somewhere that is uncomfortable.
Remember that different cultures have different forms of etiquette. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You can also go on the internet to get information about different cultures, belief practices, and social norms.
The key to having good socializing skills is self-awareness. Read the room, you have entered into someone else's realm and they do not want it disturbed.
Before joining a conversation remember to listen first, the conversation may shift and you can unknowingly offend someone.
Don’t force your thoughts or ways of life on others. If a conversation is going in a direction that you don't like, remember it's always appropriate to "agree to disagree". It may also be necessary to excuse yourself, depending on the situation.
Remember to SMILE and use appropriate greetings.
